Description
A bulbous perennial with loose umbels of star-shaped, white flowers in late spring to early summer. It has a mild garlic scent and is sometimes grown in ornamental borders or naturalised in wildflower meadows.
Distribution
Native to the Mediterranean region. It is naturalised in parts of the UK, especially in southern England.
Medicinal/Other Uses

Like other Allium species, it has been used for its antibacterial and digestive benefits.
Edibility
echnically edible and used sparingly in Mediterranean cuisine, but not commonly eaten in the UK.
Human Toxicity
Toxic to cats and dogs – even small amounts can damage red blood cells, leading to anemia.
