Description
A tall, clump-forming perennial with finely divided fern-like leaves and large, flat clusters of golden-yellow flowers in summer. Native to the Caucasus, Iran, and central Asia. In the UK, it is cultivated as a striking border plant and is not naturalised. Not under threat.
Distribution
Native to central and western Asia; cultivated widely in temperate regions.
Medicinal/Other Uses

Related to Achillea millefolium (common yarrow), it has been used in traditional medicine as an anti-inflammatory and for wound healing, though less commonly than its relative.
Edibility
Not considered edible — bitter taste and potential toxicity.
Human Toxicity

May cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals. Ingesting large amounts can cause stomach upset.

Mildly toxic to cats and dogs (can cause vomiting or diarrhoea).
