Description
Leycesteria formosa is a deciduous shrub with hollow stems and pendulous racemes of white flowers surrounded by purple-red bracts. It produces dark purple, almost black berries that are attractive to birds. The plant can grow up to 2 metres in height and is known for its rapid growth and ornamental appeal.
Distribution
Native to the Himalayas and southwestern China, it has been naturalised in parts of Europe and North America. It thrives in a variety of habitats, including woodlands and garden settings.
