Description

A graceful perennial with tall, slender stems carrying bell-shaped flowers in shades of blue, violet, or white. Leaves are narrow and lance-shaped, resembling those of a peach tree.

Distribution

Native to central and southern Europe, commonly grown in UK gardens as an ornamental. Occasionally naturalised in wildflower-rich grasslands and woodland edges.

Medicinal/Other Uses First Aid Symbol

No strong medicinal tradition, but like many bellflowers it has been used in folk medicine for mild anti-inflammatory and soothing effects.
