Description
A striking perennial with fans of sword-like leaves and upright flower spikes carrying pale creamy-yellow, six-petaled flowers. Despite the name, it is part of the iris family rather than grasses.
Distribution
Native to South America but widely cultivated as a garden ornamental in the UK. Naturalised in some areas, especially in southern Britain.
