Flower Details
Description
A compact, aromatic perennial forming small mounds of grey-green leaves topped with tiny lavender-pink flowers from summer into autumn. The leaves have a pleasant minty fragrance, attracting bees and butterflies. It’s an excellent choice for dry borders or rock gardens.
Distribution
Native to southern Europe; cultivated and occasionally naturalised in the UK.
Medicinal/Other Uses

Traditionally used as a digestive aid, mild expectorant, and relaxant. Herbal infusions made from its leaves were used to treat colds and indigestion.
Edibility
Edible in small quantities. Leaves can flavour teas or salads.
