Description
Large bindweed is a vigorous climbing plant with large, trumpet-shaped white flowers and arrow-shaped leaves. It is often seen scrambling over hedges, fences, and other plants, sometimes smothering them.
Distribution
Native to southern Europe and introduced to the UK, where it is now widespread. It thrives in disturbed ground, gardens, hedgerows, and riverbanks.
Medicinal/Other Uses
Some related bindweed species have been used traditionally as mild laxatives or for skin conditions, but Calystegia silvatica has little documented medicinal use.
