Description
A biennial herb with glossy green leaves and clusters of small yellow flowers. Common along roadsides and damp ground in spring.
Distribution
Native to Europe, naturalised throughout the UK and North America.

Traditionally used as a spring tonic and digestive aid; rich in vitamin C and once eaten to prevent scurvy.
Edibility
young leaves can be eaten raw or cooked; taste is peppery, similar to watercress.
