Description
A tall perennial with golden-yellow flower clusters forming feathery plumes. Commonly blooms from late summer to early autumn.
Distribution
Native to North America, but naturalised and invasive in parts of the UK and Europe, where it can outcompete native flora.
Medicinal/Other Uses

Traditionally used for urinary tract infections, inflammation, and wound healing; possesses diuretic and antimicrobial properties.
Edibility
Young leaves and flowers are edible and can be used in teas; flavour is mildly bitter and aromatic.
Human Toxicity
May cause allergic reactions (hay fever–like symptoms) in sensitive individuals. Avoid large doses of concentrated tea if you have kidney disease.
