Medicinal/Other Uses

Traditionally used in folk remedies for fever, tuberculosis, and wound healing, though with little scientific backing.

Young shoots and roots are edible when peeled, though rarely eaten today.
Human Toxicity
Generally safe, but spines can cause physical injury if handled without care.
Pet Toxicity
Not Toxic
Active Compounds
Phenolic acids, flavonoids.
